Andrés Ramos: "Chroma is based on a collage of short musical sections that don’t develop further than the initial exposition of the idea. In this deliberately raw composition, the contrast between the parts becomes a means of expression and it’s the performer’s task to create the overall coherence. The ubiquitous chromaticism allows the perception of mallet percussion as unbound by any traditional form of harmony. The whole keyboard is treated here as a set of small instruments, all organised according to a strict serialism which, now and then, can still embrace great flexibility."
